I’m guessing it’s a no.
Neither would I or anyone else for that matter..
But what if you might be getting the equivalent of that apple when you buy your skin care?
Angry? Does that make your blood boil?
I know I would be..
All your hard earned cash for something that’s spoilt before it even reaches you.
Let’s not even talk about results..
Because you’d be lucky if it doesn’t cause your skin any unwanted irritation!
Clearly the stability of your skin care is something you should care about..
However this is an area where few skin care manufacturers stress on – Stability.
Why is that?
If you were to ask me what’s the few things that I would look into when choosing a skin care, stability would right up there with ingredients used, concentration of active ingredients, etc.
If the skin care is already oxidised by the time it reaches you, then not only won’t you be getting any benefit from it. At the same time, it is actually harming your skin!
This is especially important since we live in a hot and humid tropical country! Everything oxidises twice as fast here…
So here’s the question you SHOULD be asking when getting your skin care:
"What is the manufacturer doing to ensure the stability of their skin care products?"
You might be wondering..
What does Medik8 do to ensure that what you get is stable and potent?
For example, Medik8 has taken these steps to ensure stability and effectiveness of retinol products:
- Filling is done in special nitrogen chamber to minimise interaction with oxygen
- Well balanced formulation of ingredients to achieve maximum stability
- Use encapsulation technology to improve stability and shelf-life
- Use molecular film and liposomal technology for more protection from oxygen
How about Medik8 Vitamin C serum?
Did you know: regular Vitamin C is very unstable and goes off easily. When it does, the formula becomes a pro-oxidant (delivering free radicals to the skin) which causes you skin damage instead. It is therefore VERY important that you use a highly stable Vitamin C product.
When Vitamin C goes off, you’d notice that the colour darkens to yellowish or even brownish. Many department store brands “tint” their creams to disguise this indicator.
Whereas here at Medik8, we always insist that it has to be crystal clear!
So that when it goes bad, you know to stop using it.
What are the steps taken to ensure you get stable and potent Vitamin C serums?
- Use of a more stable Vitamin C derivative (Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate)
- Inclusion of Glutathione to stabilise L-ascorbic acid
- Amber bottled packaging to reduce breakdown from sunlight
- Combined with vitamin E to improve stability
These are just some examples of the measures taken by Medik8 to ensure the product that reaches you delivers on its promises!
So here’s the thing, I’m not telling you to buy Medik8.
What I’m telling you instead is look beyond the brand name and the advertising..
And to actually ask about what the manufacturer is doing to ensure that their products deliver you the results you want!
